the first image is using several small applications of the geometric twirl filter to the background. in the second adjusted photo, i tried using the kaleidoscope effect, gaussian blur and blend mode of difference. |

the first adjustment uses a gaussian blur on the selected background to cause the swan to stand out as a focal point. for the second adjustment, i played with effects on the selected background in this order: pattern, colorize, negative image, motion blur, promote selection to layer, blend mode of burn. |
