week 3 : color adjustments
|
|
part two : additional image experiments
|
after digging in the images i have on hand, i finally came up with a few that seemed to work with this week's correction tools. several i attempted to <choke> enhance ended up with lovely
histogram readings, but looked HORRIBLE. haha!
i plan to come back and work with these tools a bit more, as i am sure they will prove useful in the future, but my experimentation time is a bit limited for the next couple of weeks. |

not only is this an odd looking little feline, the photo has turned the poor fellow green!
p.s. i see this little guy has been moved to the *successes* page at catsontheweb.org which means he has found a home...horrah!

i felt the color in this shot was a bit washed out (perhaps it was a gray day?) and wanted to add a bit of
richness to the color.
i noticed here and in the following shot that after i made adjustments to the colors, i seem to be
losing some detail on the dark end. note the right/shadowed side of the porch. seems more fiddling is required when time
allows to strike a better balance between detail and color enhancement.

rgb adjustments: house interior
|
original image
a nice crisp photo (before hurried scanning & jpg compression ;-), but something in the lighting caused the colors to turn an unnatural
shade of pink. the walls should be a more creamy/buttery to tan and the sofa is a warm golden tan bordering on butterscotch. i worked from
memory of these two colors to correct the room.
note that once again, when correcting colors i have lost some of the darker end
detail, as in the painting on the black screen and the fireplace interior. still, i prefer the warmer more natural colors overall and they resulted in a much more evenly distributed
histogram graph.
