The sun came out for a bit today and I decided to head out and try to
find some shots that would fulfill the assignment for week 2. Basically,
tough lighting situations. Late afternoon, low strong sun sounded just
like the ticket.
I decided to head to one of the oldest cemeteries in Nashville and try
my luck there. At least if the subjects were stone angels and such, they
were likely to be still for me. haha
Mt. Olivet is located on Lebanon Road approximately ten miles from home.
If my information is correct, it was opened around 1855. At that time
it was considered the *fashionable* address for your dear departed an
some even decided to move family members from the older City Cemetery.
Some of the most well known names in the middle Tennessee area are seen
on the monuments and crypts at Mt. Olivet.
This is a location I hope to visit again as my photographic skills improve.
I would also like to *play* there under more optimal lighting situations.
Here I have included a few cropped images. [No cropping allowed in this
week's assignment...boo hoo] I am still managing to keep my fingers out
of the graphics editing paint pot as instructed, but I have to tell you
that's tough for a PSP addict. ;^)
