CSS Week 3

ARRRRRRRGGGGGHHH!   And THAT is my comment for the week.  If Bill Gates had walked into my house at about 2:00 A.M. this morning, he would have gotten a tounge lashing and an ear boxing to end 'em all!!

Yes, there I was happily creating all sorts of busy little boxes in a ticky-tacky row.  In Netscape, they looked purrrrfect.  But then, ready to call it a night, off I went to IE ..... HIS browser.  You've not seen such a mangled mess in quite awhile.  After another hour or so of cussing and rearranging, I threw up my hands and went to bed.  Wouldn't even LOOK at that gumbo recipe again until after I'd had a full day in the sun and a nice dinner tonight.

Well, I had it working in IE but that threw it all out of whack in Netscape.  Everything just super glued itself to the left side of the page and would not even think of moving to the center.  Soooooo, I've gone back to a table to center it and then added my borders, color, etc. as a class (.enclosed) to the table.  One small problem still ... Netscape would not recoginze the box borders on my table.  They will surface if I add them to the table or the tr, td attributes, but they come out way out there on the edges of the page.  Not tightly around the interior color.

I twisted tweeked and fiddled.  Still no borders on the table in Netscape.  Therefore, I reverted to my favorite illegal HTML tag "bordercolor" to create a border in Netscape.  IE's border came from the linked style sheet.

Oh, and there were a couple of other things.  When I tried to group the link attributes as shown in this week's lesson, it worked fine in IE, but Netscape would not recognize the font color or background no matter how many times I reordered them.  Also, when I tried to use transparent as a color attribute, W3C told me it was not valid.  ...and I did check my spelling ...TWICE.  Any ideas on that one ??

W3C validated both my HTML (except for the bordercolor :-) and my CSS, but I know it's still not *right*.  If anyone can spot my error(s) or has an idea what will force Netscape to read my boxed table borders, PLEASE speak up  !!!!

As always, thanks for the help, Vikki and everyone else !!!
